Paper Sector

In the production of paper various processes appear such as the producción de pasta de papel, production of paper pulp, the manufacture of different qualities of paper and packaging or the recovery of recycled paper. All of these consume high volumes of water.

The paper industry has two important water lines that need to be treated.

On the one hand, the process waters in which coagulants and flocculants of natural origin such as starches are applied, allowing the recovery of the fibre in the productive cycle, resulting in important savings of raw material, and reducing the environmental impact.

On the other hand, effluents containing various contaminants of natural origin are generated. These include remains of vegetable fibres and others of synthetic origin such as phenols, dioxins, and furans.

These wastewaters are also treated by physicochemical processes enabling the reuse of a part and the discharge of the rest of the flow complying with the required quality parameters.

The sludge produced during the physicochemical treatment process is also released from the accompanying water by a dehydration process in which mainly flocculants based on polyacrylamide are incorporated.

During the process the addition of a dose of biocides, defoamers, bleaches and other auxiliary reagents may be necessary.
